The 36th Annual Day Celebration of Mar Thoma Public School, Kakkanad was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and was graced by the presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor, NUALS, Prof. (Dr.) G. B. Reddy. In his presidential address, Rev. Dr. John Joseph, President of the Mar Thoma Educational Society, spoke about the school’s developments and formally introduced the Chief Guest. The Annual Report of the school was presented by Principal Dr. Sheela Seth, and the school magazine, LOGOS 2025, was unveiled, celebrating the achievements of the students. The event also featured a variety of cultural performances, making the celebration a memorable occasion for students, staff, and guests alike, held in the school auditorium.
As part of the SEED activities, a Cross Country Competition was held at Mar Thoma Public School on Saturday, 4th October 2025. The event was conducted under the theme “Swachhata Hi Seva.” The flag-off was done by SHO Sri Sajeev Kumar of Infopark Police Station. Principal Dr. Sheela Seth presided over the function, while Vice Principal Smt. Soni Susan Thomas, Headmistress Smt. Mary K. John, Programme Officer Smt. Pratibha R. Chandan, NSS Volunteer Leader Smt. Abhilash M.B., and Smt. Bijilin Varghese extended their felicitations. As part of the initiative, students ran 6 kilometers from the school to Brahmapuram. Santhosh House emerged victorious, winning the overall trophy for their outstanding participation and team spirit.
The School Annual Athletic Meet 2025–26 was held on 31st October and 1st November. The Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by Cdr. K. G. Krishna Kumar.
The Ninth Edition of the Mar Theophilus Elocution Competition, organized by the Mar Thoma Educational Society in loving memory of late Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus, Suffragan Metropolitan and founder patron of Mar Thoma Public School, was held on Friday, 12th September 2025. Students from around 27 CBSE schools in Kochi participated with enthusiasm and zeal on the topic “Harmonising Diversity: A Student’s Perspective on Cultivating Peace.” The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. Dr. John Joseph, President & Manager of the School. Winners were honored with the ever-rolling trophy, cash prizes, mementos, and certificates. The first prize was awarded to Maidhili P. of Nalanda Public School, the second prize to Seerat Chahal of Navy Children School, Kochi, and the third prize to Aishwarya R. Menon of Sri Sri RaviShankar Vidyamandir, Kochi.
The inauguration of the 35th Annual Day celebration of Mar Thoma Public School, Kakkanad was graced by the presence of the Honorable Governor of Goa, Mr. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai. In his address, the Honorable Governor highlighted that the ties with the Mar Thoma Church are profoundly rooted. Education is of paramount importance in an individual's life, and our mother tongue is as essential as our vision. The ongoing mission of the Mar Thoma Church is to deliver exceptional service in the realms of education and healthcare. In his presidential address, Rev K G. The Cross Country Race that embodied the theme, “Resonate with Nature, Preserve our Future”, was held on November 30, 2024, for Classes 6 to 12. The theme inspired participants to connect with the environment while promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. The event was officially flagged off by Mr. J. S. Sajeev Kumar, Station House Officer, Infopark Police Station. His enthusiastic presence motivated the participants and added a special touch to the event. The event underscored the values of perseverance and unity, fostering a sense of achievement and pride among participants. The Cross Country Race 2024 was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing holistic development, both physically and ethically, in its students.
Mar Thoma Public School proudly hosted its inaugural Intra-school Model United Nations conference , uniting students from Grades 7-12 to address significant global challenges under the guidance of Mr Prashant Nagpal, Founder of Ed Excursions.The conference, which took place on November 5, 6, and 7, simulated the United Nations General Assembly and various specialized committees, including UN Women, Media House, United Nations Security Council, and Economic and Social Council. Students represented different nations and engaged in discussions on critical issues such as climate change, economic disparity, and human rights. Participants showcased remarkable leadership, research, and public speaking abilities.
Kindergala 2024, held on November 1st and 2nd at Mar Thoma Public School for the Kindergarten students highlighted the remarkable talents of young learners through a lively series of competitions. The event delighted children and parents alike, creating cherished memories. The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where President Rev. KG Joseph and Principal Dr. Sheela Seth honoured the winners , applauding the creativity and teamwork displayed by all participants.
The School Annual Athletic Meet 2024-25 was held on 30th October and 1st November. The Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by Ms Radhika Suresh, Olympian and Former Table Tennis National Champion.
Mar Thoma Public School participated in the prestigious NASA Space Apps Challenge, an international hackathon that inspires students to address real-world challenges through creative problem-solving. Team Inforce, composed of six talented students from Class 4, achieved an outstanding First Place in the school category and earned the title Best Galactic Solution.
Our school participated in Kochi Metro Sahodhaya Kalolstav 2024 at Rajagiri Public School from Oct 2nd - Oct 4th 2024 and our school secured 5th place with 608 points. We also won the Overall Trophy for Fine Arts.
DROMOS 2024, the annual interschool arts and cultural festival, was held on September 07, 2024. The festival, which witnessed spirited participation from students representing 15 schools, was a one-day celebration of artistic talent and cultural exchange. The valedictory function was graced by Smt. Uma Thomas, Honourable MLA of Thrikkakara Constituency, as the Chief Guest.
Mar Theophilus Memorial Interschool Elocution Competition was conducted in the school chapel on 27 August 2024. 22 schools participated in the competition on the topic "Eco spirituality: A harmonious Path for Healing Our Planet in the Present Time".
On August 15, the Independence Day celebrations began with March Past by the prefectoriral team. Special assembly was conducted in the school premises and the National flag was hoisted by the President Rev. K.G. Joseph. Special programs were presented in the school auditorium followed by Cycle Rally, House wise Patriotic Song, Quiz and Mime Competitions.
Inauguration of Literary and Arts Fest - Meraki 2024-25 was held in the school auditorium on July 22, 2024.
International Yoga Day was celebrated by conducting a special assembly in the school auditorium. Students of class VI A performed some Yoga poses. An awareness session on the topic - Anti Drugs for classes XI and XII was held in the school auditorium. The session was led by Mr. D Prince, Intelligence Officer, NCB Zonal Unit, Kochi.
‘True leaders don’t create followers……they create more leaders.’ The Investiture Ceremony of the student council for the academic session 2024-'25 was held with great enthusiasm and dignity in the school auditorium on Thursday,20 June 2024. A message was delivered by the President of MTES, Rev K. G. Joseph. Felicitation was given by Mr. Paul Mathew, Joint Secretary, MTES. The prefectorial team took the oath given by the Principal Dr. Sheela Seth.
School celebrated World Environment Day on June 5th. Special assembly was conducted in the school building by class VII A. Students of class IX B along with Mathrubhumi SEED, distributed curry leaf saplings to 20 nearby houses.
Several enriching field trips were conducted for students across different classes. Class 6 embarked on a trip to Milma and Hill Palace in Tripunithura, where they explored the dairy production processes at Milma and delved into Kerala's rich cultural heritage at Hill Palace.
Students from Classes 7, 8, and 9 visited the Science Park at Cochin University of Science and Technology. At the Science Park, they engaged in hands-on learning experiences, interacting with various exhibits and demonstrations related to science and technology. These field trips provided students with practical exposure and interactive learning opportunities outside the classroom, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of science.
On January 13, 2024, a comprehensive session on Health, First Aid, and Safety was conducted. The session targeted students from classes 7 and 8 and was facilitated by Dr. Remya Mathew from Rajagiri Hospital. Students were enlightened about various aspects of health awareness, safety measures, and essential first aid procedures. The session aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and skills to handle emergencies effectively.
On January 24, 2024, a session on "Coping with Adolescent Changes and Challenges" was conducted. The session was aimed for the students from classes 7, 8, 9, and 11 and was facilitated by Dr. Girija from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. Students were guided on understanding and managing the various physical, emotional, and social changes that accompany adolescence. Practical coping strategies and techniques were discussed to help students navigate this transitional phase.The session provided valuable insights and support to students facing the challenges of adolescence.
A Career Guidance Programme was organized on January 29, 2024, for students of class 11 at an event hosted by Career Launcher. The programme aimed to provide valuable insights and direction to students regarding their future career paths. Various aspects of career planning, higher education options, and skill development were discussed during the session. Students gained valuable information and guidance to make informed decisions about their academic and professional pursuits.
